Frequently Asked Questions
About Göynük
Göynük is a quiet coastal neighbourhood of Kemer that takes its name from its celebrated canyon. Turquoise water running between sheer rock walls, natural pools and waterfalls make Göynük Canyon the most visited nature park in the area. You will find a Blue Flag beach and large resorts on the shore, and a full outdoor adventure just a few kilometres inland.
Highlights
- ◆ Göynük Canyon Nature Park — waterfalls, natural pools and sheer rock walls
- ◆ EcoFun Adventure Park — zipline, canyon safari and adventure courses
- ◆ Lycian Way — a significant section of the historic route passes through the canyon
- ◆ Göynük Beach — a Blue Flag shore well suited to water sports
- ◆ Beydağları Coastal National Park — the protected area covering the whole region
- ◆ Mount Tahtalı cable car — a short drive away, with panoramic summit views
Places to Visit
The canyon lies about 4.5 kilometres inland and can be reached on foot from the centre in roughly 45 minutes. The nature park charges admission and is generally open 09:00-18:30. You can cool off in the natural pools along the trail; open fires and camping are not permitted.
Beaches and Sea
Göynük Beach holds a Blue Flag and spreads along a long shoreline. As across Kemer, the surface is mainly pebble and fine shingle. The water is clear and the beach offers water sports such as parasailing.
Activities and Tours
Canyon walking is the main draw, along with canyoning, ziplining, climbing, jeep safaris and ATV tours. Swimming in the natural pools is the most refreshing thing you can do in high summer. Boat tours from Kemer centre and the Tahtalı cable car are a short transfer away.
Where to Stay, Eat and Shop
Large all-inclusive hotels line the shore, and proximity to outdoor activities is the area's strongest asset. There are restaurants, kiosks and rest areas at the canyon entrance. Nightlife is limited; for live entertainment guests head to Kemer centre, 13 kilometres away.
When to Visit
May to October suits the canyon best, when water levels and temperatures are balanced. June to September is the most rewarding window if you want both the sea and the canyon.
Transfer Tip
The airport is about 45 km away, a 45-55 minute drive. If the canyon is on your list, we recommend an early morning transfer — the park entrance gets busy after midday.
