About Konyaaltı
Konyaaltı runs for some seven kilometres from the foothills of the Taurus Mountains down to the sea, with clear water over a pebble shore that locals love as much as visitors. Beach Park's beach clubs, the Antalya Museum and the aquarium are all here. It is a district that lives all year and combines mountain scenery with a beach holiday.
Highlights
- ◆ Antalya Museum — nearly 30,000 artefacts, among the finest collections in Turkey
- ◆ Antalya Aquarium — one of the largest tunnel aquariums in the world
- ◆ Tünektepe Cable Car — a panorama of the bay from 605 metres
- ◆ Beach Park — beach clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues
- ◆ Atatürk Culture Park — a large green space on the clifftops
- ◆ Sarısu Recreation Area — 350 acres of picnic and leisure grounds
Places to Visit
A walking and cycling path follows the shore without interruption from the Antalya Museum all the way to Sarısu. The Tünektepe cable car climbs to a summit with a full view of the bay. The district is also the starting point for Lycian Way hikes and the Geyikbayırı climbing routes.
Beaches and Sea
The beach is mostly fine pebble with sandy stretches in places. It holds a Blue Flag and the water is exceptionally clear, though it deepens quickly, so it suits young children less than Lara or Kundu. It runs from the foot of the cliffs to Tünektepe.
Activities and Tours
Beach sports, diving schools, boat tours and cycling along the promenade stand out, and a tram line runs parallel to the shore. Trips to Olympos, Çıralı and the Kurşunlu Waterfall also start here.
Where to Stay, Eat and Shop
Accommodation leans towards city hotels, mid to upper-range resorts and apartments; there are fewer all-inclusive properties than in Lara or Kundu. Beach clubs and restaurants line the shore, with the Migros mall and Konyaaltı Avenue nearby. Open-air concerts are held on the seafront in summer.
When to Visit
May to October for swimming, and March to May plus October to November for hiking and climbing. With around 300 sunny days a year, the coastal path is enjoyable even in winter.
Transfer Tip
The airport lies about 19-24 km away, a 30-40 minute drive. The route passes through the city, so evening traffic in summer can add time; share your flight number and we will time the pickup around it.
